Researchers in Hong Kong studied the severity of the BA.2 variant among a small number of children who were hospitalized for the most recent COVID-19 strain. They found that children who were hospitalized with the BA.2 variant were 18 times more likely to be admitted to the ICU and seven times more likely to die compared to those hospitalized with the flu.



The United Kingdom’s Office of National Statistics (ONS) has released the nation’s COVID-19 data, which sheds more light on the long COVID phenomenon. 1.33 million people who were previously infected with COVID-19 reported lingering symptoms at least a year after infection. This accounts for roughly 2.1% of the U.K.’s population, with 1 in 48 people experiencing long COVID.
