Cats, Coffee, and Chill: Discover the Charm of Cat Cafés

Cats, Coffee, and Chill: Discover the Charm of Cat Cafés

In the post-pandemic world, the days seem unending and stress seeps into every aspect of our lives. When everything feels too much, finding moments of calm is a precious gift. Cat cafés offer exactly that: a relaxing spot where you can just not think while drinking your coffee and petting cats around you.

Cat cafés originated in Taiwan in 1998 and have gained widespread popularity in Asia and all over the world in the 2000s. These establishments serve beverages and desserts while letting the cats roam around to serve as company for the customers.

In the wake of the pandemic, people started to seek out spaces that offer a sense of connection and stress relief. By hanging out with cats and giving them treats,  customers can reduce their stress and boost their energy. Being with good company (whether it be cats or the people you will go with) offer a temporary escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life; and help you recharge for the busy days ahead of you.

Of course, there are things you need to take note of before visiting a cat cafe.

  1. There are set feeding times for the cats so if you want to be able to give them (cafe-bought) treats, make sure to do your research first. Feeding times are usually the only time that the cats are in action so chances are, if you visit them outside of it, most of the cats will either be napping or hanging out in the corners of the cafe.
  2. Make sure to NOT feed the cats human food, on purpose or not, because it contains too much fat and salt for them. Especially be careful of your food if the cats are free to roam around because these friends are agile and will most likely attempt to get a pawful.
  3. Visiting cat cafés have certain risks for those with allergies, which is why it is important to sanitize regularly, bring medicine, and wear masks to minimize the risk for allergens. Luckily, the Jelli M1 transparent mask is designed to keep the customers safe AND ensure that there are no communication barriers with the cats, as opposed to a regular one.

Beyond just the cats, the coffee, desserts, and ambiance of the place add to the charm of a cat café. Whether you are a cat lover, a coffee lover, or simply an individual seeking a break, a visit to a cat café is a unique experience that offers cats, coffee, and chill. So why not take a break, sip on some coffee, and have the cats keep you company?
